Benfica confirm Nunez deal agreed with Liverpool

Liverpool have reached an agreement for the transfer of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez in a deal worth up to €100m (£85m).

The Portuguese club, who announced the deal in the early hours of Monday morning, say Liverpool will pay an initial €75m (£64m), with add-ons amounting to €25m included in the deal.

The transfer is subject to the 22-year-old Uruguay international agreeing personal terms with Liverpool and completing a medical.

Liverpool transfer target Darwin Nunez is valued at 100 million euros after one hugely prolific season in Portugal in which he scored 23 times for Benfica.

Liverpool have rejected a second offer from Bayern Munich for Sadio Mane.

The offer was £23.5m plus £6.5m in add-ons which Liverpool believe were unrealistic. To achieve them in full, Bayern would need to win three Champions League titles and Mane would need to win three Ballon d'Ors.

Bournemouth have made an approach to Liverpool about taking Nat Phillips on loan for the season.

Liverpool are currently weighing up the offer for Phillips, who also spent the second half of last season on loan at Bournemouth

The defender joined on Deadline Day in January and was a part of their successful Championship campaign, making 17 appearances.

Liverpool's plan originally was to allow Phillips to leave this summer, however they're now keen on keeping him after he signed a new long term deal.
